Among the crude and simple-minded giant races, shadowgiants possess a unique aspect:subtlety. They are feared andhated even by other giants, since they have a reputationfor being murderers, thieves, and assassins against theirown kind. They dwell in par-ticularly dark areas, in-cluding those that areknown to border thePlane of Shadow.A shadow giantstands around20 feet tall andweighs around4,000 pounds. Itis thin and wiry, with gaunt fea-tures. However, despite its emaciated appearance, it is very strong and fit. Malesalways have pure white hair, while females’ tresses arealways pitch black. The eyes of a shadow giant are the colorof a starless void. Shadow giants dress in elegant, if grim, clothing that is predominately black and blood red.A shadow giant’s bag contains 1d2 rocks, 1d6+4 mun-dane items, and the giant’s personal possessions. Personalpossessions usually include exquisite sculptures, gem-stones, and artwork. Shadow Giant SocietyEven among the normally xenophobic giant race, shadowgiants are incredibly reclusive and distrusting. They prefer asolitary existence, though some band together out of neces-sity. The rare shadow giant that settles down typically makesits lair underground.Shadow giants are more cerebral and inquisitive thanother giants, and they seek out knowledge as much asthey do wealth. They have no compunctions aboutmurder, and they have been known to contract out theirservices to kill other giants. Because of this reputation, most giants attack shadow giants on sight—storm giantsin particular despise them.
