#### special abilities
### Enslave (Su)
Three times per day, an ethergaunt can attempt to enslave a living creature within 30 feet. Anyone targeted by the ethergaunt must make succeed on a DC 16 Will save or have their mind enslaved, as though by a dominate monster spell. The ethergaunt's control is broken only by the death of the ethergaunt, death of the enslaved creature, by a casting of remove curse, break enchantment or greater dispel magic, or if the ethergaunt travels more than 1 mile away travels to a different plane from the affected creature. At any given time, an ethergaunt may have one slave per point of Charisma bonus.
### Material Jaunt (Su)
Ethergaunts dwell on the Ethereal Plane. While in their natural state of etherealness, they can perceive but not affect creatures and objects on the Material Plane. However, an ethergaunt can transport itself from the Ethereal Plane to the Material Plane as a standard action. It can remain on the Material Plane for up to 1 round per Hit Die. At the end of this time, or when the ethergaunt chooses, it becomes ethereal again. An ethergaunt must remain on the Ethereal Plane for at least 1 hour after a material jaunt before it can use the ability again. Ethergaunts who wish to remain on the Material Plane for a longer time must use plane shift or similar magic.
### Partial Immunity to Spells (Su)
An ethergaunt is immune to spells or spell-like abilities that allow spell resistance. This immunity only applies to arcane spells of 4th level or lower. An ethergaunt can elect to allow a spell it is immune to affect it, making this decision requires no action.
### Stupefying Gaze (Su)
1d4 Intelligence, Wisdom and Charisma damage, 30 feet, Will DC 16 negates. The save DC is Charisma-based. An ethergaunt can open and close its vertically bisected mask as a free action, activating or suppressing this ability.

**Advancement** By character class
White ethergaunts, who serve the race as scholars, philoso-phers, diplomats, and bureaucrats, occasionally parleywith the Material Plane races in order to serve the greatergoal of planar domination. Cunning schemers, whitesattempt to purge all emotion from their deal-ings, instead dedicating them-selves to an objective (in theirview) pragmatism. Whites seldom give an inch, and “negoti-ations” generally boil down to suggestions that fighting offinevitable genocide will only result in unnecessary struggleand needless destruction of material resources.White ethergaunts are the tallest of their race. They oftenclothe themselves in robes and skirts of an organic materialresembling rubber. They care nothing for red ethergaunts, viewing them as worthless pawns (but still a thousand timesmore valuable than a hundred Material Plane creatures' lives). Most white ethergaunts respect their black over-lords, but a few of the most ambitious secretly plan tousurp their authority and take over ethergaunt society.Such irrationality, when discovered by the highest caste, iseradicated immediately.
