The foe must succeed at a DC 18 Reflex save or be pounded bodily into a shallow grave. This ability only works on solid ground with hardness of 8 or less. A mound of cracked flooring material, earth, or stone reveals the location of the victim to compatriots. Creatures outside of the pit can dig out the buried creature. Each 5-foot cube of dirt weighs 3,000 pounds, and a creature can move 5 times her maximum load worth of dirt per minute, or 10 times her maximum load if she has a shovel or other appropriate tool. Once all squares of dirt above a creature’s head have been removed, the creature can breathe, and can escape with a DC 15 Strength or Escape Artist check. A standing Medium creature typically has its head buried under 5 feet of earth (3,000 pounds). For a Small creature, this is increased to roughly 7 feet of earth (4,200 pounds). If the creature was prone when it was buried, its head is buried under the full 10 feet of earth (6,000 pounds). The save DC is Strength-based. ### Disease (Su) _False Death_: Injury; _save_ Fort DC 15; _onset_ 1 day; _frequency_ 1/day; _effect_ 1d4 Cha damage; _cure_ 2 consecutive saves. The save DC is Charisma-based. A creature whose Charisma score is reduced to 0 by false death falls into a deep coma and appears to be dead to anyone who doesn’t succeed at a DC 25 Heal check. After one week, the affected creature wakes up with all of its Charisma restored. ### Exhume (Su) When an entomber spends a standard action and touches the top of a grave or space where a creature is buried no deeper than 10 feet, the body immediately rises to the surface, leaving no hole or tunnel. A body is not harmed when brought to the surface in this manner. #### tactics In melee combat, an entomber’s fist is a powerful weapon. However, the fear associated with entombers is more due to their ability to entomb foes with their attack. #### ecology **Terrain** Any **Organization** Solitary, digger squad (2–4), or cemetery detail (6–10) **Treasure** Standard **Advancement** 6–10 HD (Medium); 11–15 HD (Large) Entombers are undead animated by necromancers who prefer to leave the dirty work to their servants. The entombers are perfect for putting bodies in the ground, or bringing them out, depending on the needs of their masters. They usually inhabit cemeteries, catacombs, or other places where many corpses might be found. Unless specifically commanded otherwise, entombers treat all living creatures as subjects for their entombing power. Entombers are filthy, streaked with dirt, and sometimes even bits of desiccated flesh (not their own), jewelry, and other small bits taken from the bodies they exhume or entomb. They stink of both carrion and embalming alchemical fluids. Closer scrutiny reveals their lips are sewn shut. Most entombers are about 6 feet tall and weigh about 160 pounds.
