## Tattoo Magic (Item Creation)
*You can create tattoos that store spells.*
**Prerequisite:** Craft (calligraphy) or Craft (painting) skill, spellcaster level 3rd+
**Benefit:** You can create single-use magic tattoos.
You can create a tattoo of any spell of 3rd level or lower that you know and that targets a creature or creatures. Creating a tattoo takes 1 hour. A tattoo must be inked onto a creature with a corporeal body.
When you create a tattoo, you set the caster level. The caster level must be sufficient to cast the spell in question and no higher than your own level. The base price of a tattoo is its spell level × its caster level × 50 gp. To create a tattoo, you must use up raw materials costing half this base price. In addition to the costs derived from the base price, you must expend the material component or pay the XP when creating the tattoo.
When you create a tattoo, you make any choices that you would normally make when casting the spell. The bearer of the tattoo is the only one who can activate it and is always the target of the spell.
Tattoos can be active for a total amount of time appropriate for the spell and caster level of the tattoo, but are activated incrementally with a swift action (touching the tattoo with a hand). The duration of each increment is based on the spells duration. A spell with a duration of 1 round / level has to be activated each round, while a spell with a duration of 10 minutes per level is activated in 10 minute increments. Tattoos with spell that have set durations cannot be activated incrementally, and instead last their full duration.
A magic tattoo can be placed on any spot on the body, and occupies a magic item slot. For example, if you have a magic tattoo on a hand. it cannot be activated while you are wearing magic gloves. A tattoo can be created that does not use a magic item space, but the base price and the time to create such a tattoo is doubled.
A magic tattoo can be erased with an _erase_ spell as if it were magic writing, or dispelled with _dispel magic_ or similar effects. Otherwise it will remain in place until activated. When a tattoo is activated, it remains until the magic is expended, or until 24 hours pass (whichever comes first) at which point the markings disappear.
