# Zar'tharax Zar'tharax (pronounced zar-THAR-acks) the eternal is the newest of the Dragon Gods. Discovered only a scant few years ago but the prophet Hk'zar Gareshk, Zar'tharax claims to be a bold warrior and glorious hero of the Legendary Age. His testament speaks of acts of punishment against those who insulted the superiority of dragonkind, and retribution against those who would dare to attack the holdings or people under draconic protection. ## History Nothing of Zar'tharax is known from the main body of the Sha'kos Kaelesh, perhaps a casualty of the long centuries and turbulent history of the dragonborn people. What is known of Zar'tharax comes from his prophet, Hk'zar Gareshk, who discovered the final remnant of the mighty dragon, and accomplished the miracle of his resurrection. The words of Zar'tharax and recorded Gareshk speak of a great many battles fought against armies, monsters, forces of nature and even the flase gods who attempted to wrest control of Temnia from the Dragons. It speaks of a glorious civilization of endless prosparity, free from fear and scarcity. The decpictions are in the most vulgar terms of "golden edifaces" and "boundless feasts," and other materialist signifiers of grandeur, rather than accomplishment of political, philosophical or cultural importance. The fall of the Dragon Gods is ascribed to Ke'siskta, the Jealous Sun. The lesser races of humanity, in dispair over their weakness and want, prayed to the sun to topple the dragons, and to steal their wealth and luxury for them (as they were unable to attain their own). Ke'siskta was indifferent to they cries of pain. He was indifferent to their complaints of privation. He was unconcerned with their protests of the inequity of their lot compared to the dragonborn. What did work was their insinuation that the Dragons' civilization might shine brighter in the sky that Ke'siskta himself. When Ke'siskta heard this, the decided to send his flames to smite the dragons and lay waste to their cities. The attack was described as a trecherous affair that caught the dragon gods unaware, and the success more a stoke of luck than a victory of might. ## The Shadow of Gareshk The revival of Zar'tharax and his razing of the Imperial City of Suartes is an inspiring tale for all dragonborn suffering under the yoke of oppression. Millions of humans burned for their crimes against their betters, buildings and walls smashed into ruin, terror reborn in the hearts of the weak and covetous. This has lead to sects devoted to Zar'tharax springing up among the slave populations in the Tyrennhian Imperium, as well as the dragonborn diaspora living in the Temnasis region of the world. The spontaneous nature of these sects, their misanthropic philosophies and heretical teachings make it so that these groups are disconnected and disorginized. The main body of Dragon God worshipers are divided on whether to accept Zar'tharax as one of the "true" dragon gods, or to dismiss Greshk and his writings as wholly ficticious. ## Holy Texts Qlex Zar'tharax, or the Testament of Zar'atharax, are the collected writings of Hk'zar Gareshk annotated by Fr'ran Tukol. Greshk himself was martyred to restore Zar'atharax to his divine form. The account of this, along with the razing of Suartes, was also provided Fr'ran Tukol. Sha'kos Kaelesh is considered by faithful to be unreliable, as it is an imperfect and incomplete collection of stories from second-hand, third-hand or even further removed sources. Through retelling and retranslation, the stories have distorted into fiction. ## Worshipers Zar'tharax is worshiped by those dragonborn who have suffered the enslavement or oppression of the Tyrennhian Imperium, and those who are angry at the state of the dragonborn civilization and its people. Those who worship Zar'tharax care more for vegence than freedom or justice. It is a conduit for outrage that allows its faithful to justify their every violent and destrcutive urge, focusing it upon those it labels as its enemies. Zar'tharax's dogma speaks of lost glories and past greatness, its philosophies say nothing of building or restoring anything great. Instead it frames that greatness as a stolen thing for which punishment must be enacted, and as a basis for the faithful to be the instrument of that punshiment. Clergy Dedicated clergy of Zar'tharax tend to favor marshal classes, such as Antipaladin, Cleric and Warpriest. Zar'tharax worshippers wish to vent their frustrations with their circumstances on all those who they deem to be aligned against them.
