V’kax’kalaccs True Seer, Master of Thought and Knowledge, Shining Jewel of Reason V’kax’kalaccs (pronounced vuh-KACKS-kuh-LACKS) is the enigmatic and inscruitible Amethyst Dragon of the Council of Seven. Writings refer to V’kax’kalaccs either as a hermaphrodidic or genderless creature, depending on which translation of ancient texts is used. V’kax’kalaccs was the least imposing of the council of seven. S/he rarely engaged in pushing the council into action. S/he had little direct interest in the council's ambitions, taking part only when the other six were at an impasse. Their interest lay in the deeper metaphyisical truths that could be studied by observing the council as they set about their work. V’kax’kalaccs provided the council with arcane knowledge that would have taken centuries to discover or that was entirely unattainable. S/he provided them with insight that reshaped the methods by which they council went about their work, and transformed a mad ambition into audacious (but attainable) goal. History V’kax’kalaccs was the last of the council of seven to be brought into the fold. Yuar’ev Q’nz had gathered and balanced a collection of the most powerful dragons on the face of Temnia, but in doing so had created a equilibrium. They six had the power achieve everything, but could not do anything so long as each pulled in their own direction. V’kax’kalaccs appeared to Yuar’ev Q’nz and offered to join her council as a means to resolve this issue. In addition to their ability to act as a deciding vote, the True Seer had knowledge that would better allow the council to better use their powers to attain the divinity she sought for her kind, perspective to see flaws in their plans that they had not considered, and the insight to the workings of the universe that could show them barriers that otherwise they would never have seen. The others on the council objected to V’kax’kalaccs's inclusion at first, but each member soon saw the value of an impartial member of the council would could be cajoled, convinced or simply coerced into deciding a controversial issue in their favor. From that day forward, the council was considered complete, and the work of turning the Council of Dragons into true divine beings began in earnest. It is unclear, based on the stories, why V’kax’kalaccs did not foresee the fall of the Dragon Gods. Or if s/he had, why s/he had not prevented it from happening. The Liseran Inquest .... Holy Texts Sha'kos Kaelesh, or "Classics of Antiquity," are a series of stories collected from the ruins of the Dragonborn civilization. The stories are tell tales of the various Dragons gods, most prominently the members of the Council of Seven. It is said that that within the Sha'kos Kaelesh, there is a cyphered gospel left by the True Seer and their closest disciples that would allow one to understand the deepest foundational works of the cosmos. Such understanding would allow one to perfectly understand (and even control) thought, time, reality and causality. Of course, the Sha'kos Kaelesh is not a complete or definitive work. Some stories have been lost to history, others have been fabricated completely or altered by translation, still more have been excised as apocryphal. Even if a true and complete record could be found, there are a number of competing steganographic methods that claim to be the true key to unlocking the cyphered gospel. Worshipers Worship of V’kax’kalaccs is a tenuous thing among the dragonborn. Those who hold reverence for the Master of Knowledge and Thought include arcanists, philosophers, logicians, engineers and scholars of the abstract and ephemeral. Few who are deeply involved in the church are deeply involved in the worship of V’kax’kalaccs. Ignorance is by no means a virtue among the dragonborn, but the "important" things to be knowledgable of are usually found in the worship of the other gods. Law and virtue, reverence for those above, respect for those equal, and regard for those lesser are all part of the gospels of the Dragon Gods. Beyond thatt, a healthy dread of places where they do not belong and an understanding of the dire consequences of impiety are made graphically clear. While V’kax’kalaccs is a patron of knowledge, there is an air of forbiddance that surrounds the True Seer. Many beleive that there are some things that mortals are not meant to know, and delving into such things is as foolish as wandering into the wilds without the Greenkeeper's leave. Others believe that V’kax’kalaccs is a deceiver, having been involved in the fall of the Dragon Gods and by extention the dragonborn people. Some see the study of abstract logic, mathematics and eptisemology as a meaningless exercise where self-styled intellectuals build constructs of convoluted language that have no purpose beyond "proving" that the plainly obvious is true, or (somehow) that the plainly obvious is false. Clergy Dedicated clergy of V’kax’kalaccs are mostly clerics and archivists, as the worship of V’kax’kalaccs is a dedication to study and knowledge. Some see this as best achieved (or at least started) through achieving the right state of consciousness. Acquiring knowledge before attaining enlightenment is like trying to carry water without a vessel. Other Worshipers and Faiths Miryag The milleaux of faiths and traditions in the Merlani Free Cities has given birth to worship of Vexivex, the God of Unknowable. The universe is full of terrifying truths that would drive mortals insane should they become known, and the more who know these truths the closer the world comes to being unmade entirely. Nothing that is true can truly be forgotten, and Vexivex holds such destructive knowledge in his mind so that no one else has to.
