# Rhynnis Polimon
Saint Rhynnis Polimon is the first prophet of Amagyr, venerated and worshiped by the Miryag people. He is known as the Keeper of the Flame, Burner of the Boats, the Fifth Light of Amangyr, and was the founder of the Polimon Sultinate.
## History
Rhynnis Polimon was the last of the five to join the **Warriors of Amangyr's Light**. He was a promising young knight in training, sold into the service of **Oret**, the Ice Fiend of the North. When the Warriors of Amangyr's Light faced off against Oret for the first time, **Unthar Karrak** and Rynnis were both badly injured, and separated from their fellows. They had to work together to escape their peril, and as they did so, Rynnis began to question his life and service to Oret. When the Warriors and Oret faced off again, Rhynnis renounced Oret and **Ma'ar Leyna**, sacrificing himself to protect Unthar from harm. Rhynnis was returned to life by Amangyr, with the knowledge that his holy work has just begun. Together with Unthar, **Toman Atvar**, **Esta Merlani** and **Annis Dayrin**, the Warriors of Amangyr's light defeated the remaining **Fiends of Yreshi**, gathered the **Weapons of Etama**, defated the **Beast of Fate**, restored the **Light of Truth** and lead their people the **Trial of the Landing**. During the Trial of the Landing, one servant of Ma'ar Leyna, **Shyvra Esperev**, tried to sabotage the grand miracle Amangyr had promised to those who followed him. Rhynnis was too late to stop Shyvra's from spreading lies and doubt among the faithful. He had killed Shyvra, but the damage had been done. Many had lost faith and began to set sail for the open seas. Rhynnis, desperate to save as many as he could, set fire to the remaining ships, preventing any more from leaving the trial. With the trial completed, and the Miryag saved from the Curse of Ma'ar Leyna, Ryhnnis set about the work of creating a new nation, with the protection and blessing of Amangyr. The other saints chose to abandon Ryhnnis an his people over petty jealousies and political disagreements. He let them go, trusting in Amangyr to judge their actions for himself.

## Church of Amangyr’s Light and Glory
Saint Rhynnis is considered to the first prophet of Amangyr, by those who follow his teachings. The other saints are heroic figures and good people, but Rhynnic theology teaches that the burning of the boats was the first act divinely inspired by Amangyr. The subject of divine revelation is a controversial one, and has caused a great schism within the faith. The Aqar'sad is the larger and more powerful of two sects. They believe that revelation is a gift given exclusively to the Polimon bloodline, and only descendants of Saint Rhynnis are capable of receiving revelations. This is the foundation of the Church of Amangyr’s Light, which is the official religion of the Polimon Sultanate. Priests of the Aqar’sad teach of the glories of St. Rynnis Polimon, and his revelations of Amangyr’s Light. Their sermons often contextualize their core virtues, the Pillars of Amangyr, within the actions of St. Rhynnis or another member of the divine bloodline. Often, these stories focus of the pillars of unity, obedience and temperance, though occasionally calls to action will come accompanied with stories of justice and fortitude. Within the core of the Sultanate, the priests of St. Rynnis are figures of immense political and social power. They are educators of the children, the arbiters of disputes, healers of the sick, judges of crime, keepers of the peace and rulers of the law. Outside of trade guilds, there are few positions of prestige or power that are not directly filled by one of the ordained. The Church of Amangyr maintains the standing army of the Sultanate, though this is done directly from the Central Temple in Rynmadi. The churches of cities and towns maintains the civil guard. Temples of St. Rynnis are palatial in scale, displaying the most intricate architecture, the most beautiful artistry, the largest tracts of land and finest building materials available in their surroundings. They are usually placed at the center of town, and on the best tract of land available. All of this is done as a testament to the greatness of Amangyr, but also in deference to the civic importance of the temple. Temples of St. Rynnis are often courthouses, libraries, school houses, medical care centers, churches and halls of governance. Even in poor communities, the Temple of St. Rynnis stands out as the most impressive structure in the area. On the outer edges of the Sultanate, and in the wider world, are founds the Aqar’daras: Worshippers of the Chruch of Amangyr’s Glory. The faithful believe that anyone or sufficient faith and moral worth can receive revelation from Amangyr. The canonization of the teachings of the Marjaa, the paragons of virtue, is the foundational difference in the Church of Amangyr’s Glory. Aqar’daras virtue is built less on personal temperance and morality of thought, and more on one’s interactions with their community. As such, the priests of Amangyr (as they call themselves) often preach more actionable values, such as charity, evangelism or valor. Priests of the Aqar’daras do not have the inbuilt political power of the Aqar’sad clergy, but in Rhynnic enclaves and communities, they fulfil many of the same functions. This can create tensions between legally established civil authorities and the community church.
### Holy Texts
The Aman min'Tabhar is the primary holy text of the Rhynnic faith. It contains selections from the Zavet Yagmaran and the Telestol Aman, along with the writing of Rhynnis Polimon himself. It has been updated and amended with the canon spoken forth by Rhynnis’ descendants, and those of his siblings and their descendants, as approved by the Sultan as he sits upon the Ruby Flame Throne. The followers of the Aqar’daras have their own versions of the Aman min'Tabhar, which often include teachings from the Marjaa they choose to venerate, and other selections from philosophically compatible figures.
## Worshipers
The faithful of St. Rhynnis see themselves as culturally, morally and intellectually superior to their fellow humanoids. They take pride in the value they place on literacy and education, as well as the central role their faith plays in their day-to-day activities. This engenders contempt for those who are “unenlightened” among the worst of the faithful, and even among the well-meaning this often creates a condescending, paternalistic attitude towards outsiders.
### Signs of Faith
Rhynnic faithful will often wear a prominent article of red, orange or yellow clothing on their person. It is usually an accessory item, like a cap, scarf, headband or sash. Wealthier followers of St. Rhynnis will often pattern jewelry in the shape of symbols of their faith as well. Those who cannot afford jewelry will tattoo symbols on their arms or chests.
### Taboo
Like other worshippers of Amanagyr, the Rhynnic disdain curses, both in the arcane and mundane sense. They also dislike ascriptions of “fate” and “luck” that don’t specifically reference Amangyr as their source. They will refer to “tempting his wrath” rather than “tempting fate,” or wishing “blessings upon you” rather than “good luck.” Rhynnic faithful dislike games of random chance, though most will couch this in terms of preferring games of cunning and strategy over those that simply “beg his favor.”
### Clergy
The church is such an integral part of Polimon society and Rhynnic communities that the clergy contains almost any form of divine caster somewhere among its ranks. Druids and wu-jen of the waste render aid and protection for their people in the harsh Suliman climate, Archivists can be found in the libraries of the Rynnic madrasas; Inquisitors, Warpriests and Paladins work tirelessly to protect the faithful from the forces of evil that constantly conspire to extinguish the Flame of Justice.

## Heresies
### Varyag
Rin, Knight of the Crimson Skull, is the champion of betrayal. He is a bloodthirsty maniac who do or say anything to gain trust, then use that trust to inflict the greatest destruction he is capable of. It is said that he lured the Varyag into the Massacre of the Burning Boats in hopes of killing every Varyag man, woman and child. It was upon Rin’s blade that Shyvra was martyred, and it was at Rin’s behest that thousands of Varyag were burned alive on their boats, as sacrifice to Amanguire.
