# Hevarra Esperev ##### (Heh-var-uh Ess-per-ev) ###### Seer of Cycles Hevarra is the Seer of Cycles. She is the adoptive mother of St. Annis Dayrin, and according to some, she was the first to see the flame of Amangyr. She is a worshipped as a goddess of divination and fate.  ## History Hevarra is the wife of [[Shyvra Esperev]]. Shyvra's vessel encountered the shipwreck upon which a young [[Annis Dayrin]] was stranded, and Hevarra took pity on the young orphan. She insisted that they adopt her, and take her into their growing family. Shyvra disliked the idea, but could not deny his beloved. A series of misfortunes followed the Esperev clan, and Shyvra was convinced that there were signs of the displeasure of [[Ma'ar Leyna]]. One such misfortune was the shipwreck of their own vessel upon on the island of *Ota Krye*. Shyvra, overcome with despair and desperate to save his family, attempted to drown Annis to appease Ma'ar Leyna. Hevarra saved Annis from her husband, then sheltered from an approaching storm with Annis and her children. As she gazed into the fire, she became the first to behold [[Amangyr]], the flame of justice and the light of truth. Hevarra was stricken blind, but could clearly see the Cycles of Fate that dominate the mortal world. She could see the harrowing and the glory that lay upon the path that Annis Dayrin was fated to walk, and dedicated herself to guiding her adoptive daughter as best she could. This revelation cost Hevarra her husband and family, and made her a pariah among her own clan, but without her, the Miryag people would be wandering the sea to this day.  After the [[Trial of the Landing]] and the final betrayal of Shyvra, Hevarra urged Annis to leave Sulima with as many as would follow her. The promised land of the Miryag people was still out there waiting to be discovered. Hevarra guided Annis to the island of Narrin, introduced Annis to [[Asyra Tsabri]], and played an integral role in the formation and early success of the [[Dayrin League]].  --- ## Church of the Eternal Cycles The Hevarrite church is composed of three rings: the Ring of Obedience composed of lay people dedicated to service, the Ring of Discernment that provides directions to the Obedience, and the Ring of Prophecy that is dedicated to the true arts of prophecy. Most faithful are unaware of the higher rings of the order, as the leadership of the church remains opaque, and moves in secret. ### Holy Text *Tyerik ur Lutmira* or "Cycles and Revelations" is a collection of prophetic writings of Hevarra and others who have shown the signs of connection to the Cycles. It is written in such a manner as to appear supplementary to _Chetrys Dayrin_, rather than an idependant holy text. In the secretive depths of the Hevarran order, there exist unabridged versions of the text, held out of public view. These include much more detailed writings of the Ring of Prophecy, dating back to life and time of Annis and Hevarra. It is from these writing that the church guides their faithful. ## Worshipers The common worshippers of Hevarra are the Ring of Obedience within the church. They are philosophically similar to Annisites (especially the sects of Annis the Healer and Annis the Giver), seeing Hevarra as a guiding force to bring people where they are needed and can do the most good, and her prophecies of ultimate salvation for the faithful provide hope to those struggling with misfortune and deprivation. Meeting places for the faithful are marked out by the pattern of three concentric circles in a discreet location, affected in such a manner as to go remarked by those who are not specifically looking for them. Such places range from personal residences to the basements of taverns of shops, or even back alleys and abandoned buildings.  Hevarrites stand at the edge of heresy, making temples to St. Annis an unattractive venue for any but the most cursory worship of Hevarra. The validity of Hevarra as a figure in the church dogma and the Seer of Vathker's own position make outlawing the sect an unattractive prospect, but the leadership of the Annisite churches are distrustful of a rival sect undermining their moral and ecclesiastic authority. ### Taboo ????????????????????  ### Clergy The clergy of the Church of the Eternal Cycles is made up of three layers. Lay priests and others incapable of divine prophecy remain within the Ring of Obedience, leading small circles of the faithful in accordance to the teaching of the Seer of Cycles. The organization of the church is diffuse, so an Obedient priest will not know where other gatherings of Hevarrites meet, or who leads the faithful in a given area. The Ring of Discernment are those priests who have the ability of prophecy. Most are spellcasters, others have an uncanny talent for mundane fortune telling. They have been entrusted with a greater insight into Hevarra's prophecies, and a broader knowledge of the locations and membership of the various Obedient groups. They often act as their foretelling and faith guide them, directing Obedient orders accordingly. They know of the Ring of Prophecy's existence, as it is Acolytes of Prophecy that guide a Discerner's education, and who occasionally pass orders down from church leadership. The Ring of Prophecy is the heart of the Hevarrite order. The clarity of prophecy is of utmost importance, and the ring will engage in rituals that Amangyrans would find heretical if the result is a clearer understanding of what the future holds. This dedication to truth above dogma is the reason that Hevarrites act in secret, and even the most power members of the clergy do not have a full knowledge of the church's membership. ## Heresies Hevar is mentioned as a necromancer and spirit-caller in [[Aryrean]] lore. She ensorcelled Shyvra Esperev, forcing him to marry her and get her with child. When Shyvra's true-born children broke Hevar's spell (an act that ended up blinding the crone), Hevar called the spirit of [[Annis Dayrin#Heresies]], one of the [[Amangyr#Amangiuere|Amangiuere's]] four vile champions, to possess her child, and set the child against Shyvra and the Varyag people. ### Divine Symbols & Sigils Three concentric circles
