# Freji ##### The Swfit, the Wind of Fortune Freji is the goddess of safe journeys, good fortune, plentiful fishing, fair winds and following seas. The blessings of Freji are always celebrated by the Varyag, but _never_ prayed for. Freji is kind and merciful, but **Marlena** is jealous, and tempting her wrath is unwise. The Varyag know that each bounty provides for a coming shortage, and any swift wind could be the harbinger of a brewing storm. The Varyag tend to see the blessings of Freji as a reward for pious behavior.  # History Freji was the third blessing of Artrya that was foretold to the Yagmaran by the prophet **Melrose**. It was her strong and supportive winds that carried the Yagamaran to the safety of the oceans, taking them out of the ruinous grasp of **Amanguire**. When the prophet **Jelmuro** sought to save the Varyag from their faithlessness during the Era of Brotherhood, it was Freji who guided him to the _Children of Iriche_. When Jelmuro and the Children of Iriche arrived at the island of Irilajaña, Freji honored their bravery and declared them worthy of the covenant. He granted their band a favorable wind to sail back to Ciarifel, which allowed Jelmuro the opportunity to show them the Articles of the Covenant, and to call the Varyag back to sea. During the rise of Annistheyran and the Black Clan, Freji gave guidance and fortune to the _Knights of Iriche_, allowing them to find the relics of the Children of Iriche. With these relics, the Knigth would do battle with Annistheyran for the soul of the Varyag people.  # The Temple of the Covenant Freji does not have her own temples, as she is an aspect of Artrya. There are shrines to Freji, but her aspect is usually the smallest of the three shrines, with Marlena being the largest and Varda being the second largest.  #### Tabboo The blessing of Freji are not to be prayed or wished for, as it is a good way to incur the jealous wrath of Marlena. As such, Varyag rarely take outward joy in their good fortune.  #### Clergy While most of the clergy of Artrya promote the three aspects as a single divine entity, there are druids, paladins and clerics that belong to the Brotherhood of the Blessings, which is dedicated to the aspect of Freji. The Brotherhood is a secretive order whose membership is known only to eachother and to the high clerics whom they serve. The existence of the order is known to most Varyag, but many do not take their assistance well, as it is surely an invitation for misfortune to befall them or their clan in the future. This is why the brotherhood often pose as common folk and work anonymous to render assistance to those they deem worthy or in need of it. Their abiding rule is that "if our work is done well, no one will be sure it was ever done at all."  # Other Worshipers and Faiths   #### Miryag The Miryag conception of Feraegi is one of the seven fiends who rule the fathomless depths. She is the mistress of temptation, glamorizing sin and wickedness. She provides succor and assistance to those who engage in vice, until such time as their souls are irreparably damned to the Lightless Depths of the Black Sea Zalimar. The people of the Free Cities (though rarely the Miryag themselves) celebrate Agee, the Debaucheress. She is a goddess of fortune, festivity and flirtation. The Spriggin worship venerate the many spirits of the world, one of whom is Faere, the spirit of white clouds. Faere will provide hints and mens of future events in the shapes of the the clouds. She is often puckish, and will tease her sister Marlei-Na, which is why then the white clouds move swiftly, the black clouds are never far behind.
