## Physical Description
Gylmi appear human at first glance, but the gills on their neck and their vibrant purple eye color give them away. Gylmi have soft, delicate skin in shades of pearly white, peach, salmon, or sandy brown. Their hair is often dark brown or black, but for some it takes on the colors of the sea, and they have thick, expressive eyebrows. Gylmi are physically bound to the sea; they must submerge themselves in water at least once a day or their skin dries and cracks, their organs begin to fail, and they eventually die.

# Racial Traits (10 RP)
### Standard Racial Traits
- **Ability Score Racial Traits:** Gylmi gain a +2 to any single ability score of your choice during character creation.
- **Size:** Gylmi are Medium creatures and thus receive no bonuses or penalties due to their size.
- **Type:** Gylmi are humanoids with the gylm and aquatic subtype.
- **Base Speed:** Gylmi base land speed is 30 feet. They also have a swim speed of 30 feet.
- **Languages:** Gylm begin play speaking Undercommon and ?. Gylmi with high Intelligence scores can select from the following: Common, ?, ?, ?, ?, ? and ?. See the [[Languages of Temnia] ]page for more information about these languages.
#### Defense Racial Traits
- **Deep Embrace (2 RP):** Gylmi gain cold resistance 5, and are not subject to damage from deep water pressure.
- **Venomkissed (2 RP):** Gylmi gain a +2 racial bonus on saves vs. poisons.
#### Sense Racial Traits
- **Darkvision:** Gylmi can see in the dark up to 120 feet.
#### Weakness Racial Traits
- **Water Dependent (–9 RP):** A gylm's body requires constant submersion in fresh or salt water. Gylmi who spend more than one day without fully submerging themselves in water risk internal organ failure, painful cracking of the skin, and death within 4d6 hours.
#### Other Racial Traits
- **Amphibious:** Gylmi can breathe both water and air.
