# Synad

Synad are a strange people stranded on the material plane after the fall of the Qulaan Llulaash civilization. Each synad is actually a three distinct (though generally cooperative) brains tied together in an symbiotic relationship in one body. Furthermore, the synad are part of a psionic collective, allowing them to pool knowledge and experience among themselves. Because of their plural existence, synad do not think of themselves singularly. They identify themselves as "we" and others as "they." Similarly, synad refers to both a singular and plural, as even one synad body is still three.

## Alignment and Philosophy
Synad are not themselves individuals, and as such consensus is second-nature to them. They much reach an accord within their own minds to do anything, and thus doing anything collectively requires similar cooperation. Disruptive elements in a gathering of synad are typically shunned, and like-minded synad tend to gather together.

## Naming Traditions
Synad names are self-chosen, usually around the sixth year of a synad child's life. Names are typically three syllables, each representing one of the minds in the synad body. How those minds establish the order of presentation is not clear, but the presentation never varies. Family ties are never represented in a synad name, as family connections are communicated subconicously along the collective.
**Male Names:** Cu-la-go, Ko-lin-da, Mo-ra-din, Ur-di-set, Zan-der-vel
**Female Names:** An-ay-bal, Jo-nass-on, Ky-lar-go, She-ma-ter
# Racial Traits (15 RP)
### Standard Racial Traits
- **Ability Score Racial Traits:** Synad are strong of mind and body, but have an alien demeanor. They gain +2 Strength, +2 Intelligence, -4 Charisma.
- **Size:** Synad are Medium creatures and thus receive no bonuses or penalties due to their size.
- **Type:** Synad are aberrations
- **Base Speed:** ???????? base land speed is 30 feet.
- **Languages:** Synad begin play speaking Common and Syna. Synad with high Intelligence scores can learn any languages they want (except Druidic and other secret languages). See the [[Languages of Temnia]] page for more information about these languages.
#### Defense Racial Traits
- **Threefold Mind (3 RP):** The uniquely structured mind (or minds) of the synad make them difficult to magically influence. They gain a +2 racial bonus to saving throws against enchantment and charm effects. In addition, if the synad fails a save against such an effect, they can attempt a new save each of the next two rounds to prematurely end the effect (assuming the duration is longer than 1 round). The saves are made at a same DC as the first. If a synad has a similar ability from another source (such as the rogue's slippery mind class feature), it can only use one of these abilities per round, but can try the other if the first did not end the effect.
#### Feat and Skill Racial Traits
- **Collective (Su) (2 RP):** As a swift action, a synad can spend 1 power point to tap into the synad collective, allowing them to and gain a +2 racial bonus on any intelligence-based skill check. Synad can also use this collective to silently send messages of up to ten words to one another, but only within a range of 30 feet.
#### Psionic Racial Traits
- **Naturally Psionic (2 RP):** Synad gain the Wild Talent feat as a bonus feat at 1st level. If she takes levels in a psionic class, this feat is replaced by the Psionic Talent feat.
- **Psionic Aptitude (2 RP):** Whenever a synad takes a level in a favored class, she may choose to gain an additional power point instead of a hit point or skill point.
#### Offense Racial Traits
- **Multitask (Su) (4 RP):** The uniquely structured mind (or minds) of the synad allow them to excel at multitasking. They gain a +2 racial bonus on concentration checks. In addition, they can spend 1 power point to maintain concentration on an active spell or psionic power as a swift action. The cost multitasking increases by 1 for each round it is used on the same power (2 power points the second time, 3 power points the third, and so on). The synad can only maintain one spell at a time while multitasking, and cannot cast spells or manifest powers while multitasking.
#### Senses Racial Traits
- **Darkvision:** Synad can see perfectly in the dark up to 60 feet.
